Three Suspected Robbers Killed in Gun Duel with Police 

Three armed robbery suspects have been shot dead by the Anti-Vice Squad of the Nigeria Police Force’s Zonal Headquarters, Umuahia, along Udi-Ozalla road, Enugu State.

Members of the police squad who also recovered some weapons from the suspects, have been commended for their act of bravery by the state’s commissioner of police, Mr Danmallam Mohammad.

He gave the commendation when the team visited him in his office alongside the Divisional Police officer in charge of the Awkunanaw Division, Mr. Mike Onuh, a chief superintendent of police, to brief him on the success of the operation carried out about 8.00am, last weekend, based on an intelligence report.

The police revealed that there was a gun duel between the armed robbery suspects and the police in which three of the suspected hoodlums were severely injured and later confirmed dead.


A spokesperson for the force noted that some members of the gang may have fled with various degrees of injuries. He advised the public especially hospital operators to watch out for persons with suspected bullet wounds and report same to any nearby police station for necessary action.
