Eastern Consultative Forum: Only Restructuring, Fiscal Federalism Can Salvage Nigeria

The Eastern Consultative Forum has has maintained that only a return to fiscal federalism, regional autonomy and resource control, affirmed through a referendum and a new constitution, can return Nigeria to a path of greatness.

Speaking at a meeting held by members of the ECA in Enugu at the weekend, the group’s founder, Evangelist Elliot Uko, condemned the APC-led federal government for its recent volte face on restructuring, adding that the apparent embrace of a call its members have been strongly denouncing is a mere subterfuge merely designed for the general elections.

The group also accused the President Muhammadu Buhari administration of nepotism, noting that its many appointments of persons to fill national offices have mostly been lopsided and in breach of federal character principle.
