The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Enugu State Council, on Monday commemorated Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s 54th birthday with children at the Guardian Angel Motherless Babies Home, Enugu.
Speaking at the event where items such as toiletries, Pampers, noodles, confectioneries and fruit drinks were donated, the national vice-president of NUJ, Zone C (South-East), Comrade Chris Isiguzo, said that celebrating the governor’s birthday with the less-privileged was a mark of honour given the governor’s well known disposition as a friend of the poor.
He explained that Governor Ugwuanyi has done well in his three years of leadership in Enugu State, especially in uplifting the wellbeing of the downtrodden.
Comrade Isiguzo added that there was no better way to mark his 54th birthday than touching the lives of the less privileged. He also called for prayers for the governor, saying, “Do not forget to remember him in your prayers for him to continue to make decisions that will positively affect the lives of residents of the state.”
Presenting the items to the matron of the home, the acting chairman of the chapel, Mr. Felix Nwadioha, said that members of the chapel were happy to be associated with the children, noting that the gesture was consistent with the governor’s benevolent nature.
The matron, Rev. Mother Agnes Ibewuike, thanked members of the Correspondents Chapel for their kind gesture which she said will greatly assist in caring for the children, adding that it has been challenging meeting their needs.
She noted that Gov. Ugwuanyi has done well in all areas and promised that the management and staff of the home would continue to support the governor, pray and vote for his reelection.
