Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has reiterated his administration’s commitment to continuous partnership with the business community towards improving the economy of Enugu State for the benefit of every residents.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Barrister (Mrs) Cecilia Ezeilo, gave the assurance when officials of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) from Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi states paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Enugu, on Tuesday, May 15.
He thanked the business community for the support it has continued to offer his administration, noting that some measures have been adopted to attract foreign direct investment to the state to further actualize the vision to make Enugu State the South-East’s business hub and choice destination for investments in Nigeria.
Governor Ugwuanyi told the delegation that the state government has also invested massively in security and social infrastructural development towards that goal.
“Only recently, we inaugurated the Enugu State Ease of Doing Business Council. The Council is charged with the primary role of implementing the National Ease of Doing Business Action Plan with particular attention being given to six critical indicators out of the 11 recommended by the World Bank,” he said.
According to him, the indicators include “starting a business, registering a property, infrastructure, access to land and property, regulatory environment and security”.
The branch chairman of MAN in the three states, Chief Alloy Azubike Okafor, had earlier in his speech commended Governor Ugwuanyi, for his good governance in Enugu State, urging him not to relent “as MAN and other reputable stakeholders are taking notes of your indelible achievements, which at some point in your administration will be x-rayed openly”.
