Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, yesterday signed the 2020 Appropriation Bill of ₦169.5b into law comprising capital Expenditure of ₦100.7b and recurrent expenditure of ₦ 68.7b.
The state House of Assembly had passed the Appropriation Bill tagged, “Budget of Responsive and Accountable Governance,” on Tuesday, December 24, 2019.
Ugwuanyi said the budget was aimed at continued robust investment in infrastructure development, including construction of 17 small-scale industries with one in each council area of the state.
He said it would be targeted at the completion and reactivation of legacy projects including, the Presidential Hotel Enugu, Enugu International Conference Centre, Nike Lake Resort Hotel and Michael Okpara Square.
Others are construction of an ultra-modern 3000 capacity multi-purpose arena and the construction work at the ADADA Campus of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, in line with the Multi-campus Law as passed by the state House of Assembly.
He said the recurrent expenditure of ₦ 68.7b was aimed at ensuring smooth running of government, its agencies and departments, as well as expected expenditure arising from the consequential adjustments on the new minimum wage.
While singing the budget, Ugwuanyi expressed gratitude to the Speaker and members of the House of Assembly for their commitment to duty and harmonious relationship with the executive arm of government.
He said their cooperation had resulted in unprecedented peace and development being experienced in the state.
